Scholarship 2013

KSOCA Members & Friends,

Scholarship applications are being accepted for the 2013 Anastasia Conomos Condas Scholarship

This year, the guidelines for the application have been revised to include students attending graduate schools as well as vocational schools leading to a certificate. In addition, the age eligibility requirement has been increased to age 32.

Please advise applicants to review the guidelines carefully and be sure to include all necessary documents with their application postmarked no later than July 1, 2013

Applicant's must:

  • be a United States citizen of Kytherian descent
  • be a resident of the State of California
  • be between the ages of 17 and 32
  • be accepted or enrolled for the 2013 school year as a new or continuing full-time student in undergraduate, post graduate or vocational schools leading to an undergraduate degree, post graduate degree or certificate.
  • attach proof of full-time admission and/or enrollment and your Grade Point Average score from the latest quarter or semester
  • attach a photograph of yourself
  • attach a 200-word essay entitled, “My Family’s History on Kythera.”
  • attach signed letters of recommendation from two individuals not related to you, providing their names and contact information
  • have a parent or grandparent who is an active  Kytherian Society member who has paid his or her $30 dues for the past two years and has attended our meetings and functions.
  • submit your completed application with a postmark no later than July 1, 2013.

Please pass this information on to anyone who may qualify to apply for a scholarship and direct them to our Scholarship page to print out an application.

Scholarships will be awarded at the Annual Panigyri of the Myrtidiotissa on September 29, 2013 at the Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church in Castro Valley, CA.

This year we will be honoring our beloved Stamatoula Mavromatis Chlentzos (1906-2013) and hope you will be able to join us in sharing your memories of her and enjoying an afternoon of good food and filoxenia.
