The Kytherian Society of California celebrated it's 62nd annual Panigyri of the Myrtidiotissa at the Castro Valley Greek Orthodox Church of the Resurrection. Following a wonderful service and Artoklasia by Fr. Michael Prevas, KSOCA members and friends met in the church hall for a fabulous lunch prepared by Yanni Varelas and his crew. Everyone raved about the delicious meal and the galatobouriko that followed for dessert.
Our presentation this year featured a video slideshow by Dimitris Baltzis and friends from the ilovekythera.com website, news from Kythera, a memorial for our dearly departed Kytherian member, John Carvounnis, and an annual Honoarary Kytheran Award, awarded to Jackie Dermitzakis.
The event culminated with our famous raffle where everyone wins! You'll see by the expressions on some of our members faces, the elation they felt when they won special prizes made up of fabulous purse, jewelry, and scarf sets.
This year we were thrilled to have over 72 people attend and hope that next year we might have an even greater number of attendees.
Many thanks to everyone for their hard work in organizing and making this event a successful one.
