The KSOCA mourns the loss of long time member, Elly (Psaltis) Condos.  Elly was the daughter of Dimtrios (James) & Panagiota Psaltis. Kytherian born Dimitrios, and Elly’s brother Arthur (Athanasios), were among the founding members of the KSOCA in 1950. She will be dearly missed by all.

Our sincere condolences to her family.
May her memory be eternal.

*********

Elly Condos was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away of natural causes on 14 May 2022 at the age of 95 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family.

Elly was born June 10, 1926 to Greek immigrant parents from Mitata, Kythera and Demeni, Peloponnesus. She was born in Los Gatos, CA and was raised in San Francisco. Her parents were involved in building the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in San Francisco, the oldest Greek Orthodox church west of the Mississippi, and were charter members of several Greek support clubs that still exist to this day. She was an active member in the Kytherian Society and met her husband Anthony “Tony” Condos at a dance in her Greek community.  He proposed to her at the Cliff House in San Francisco, and the rest was history. They were married in 1954 and had the best life together, traveling to various places around the world: Australia, Belgium, Greece, France, England, Mexico, to name a few. They made lifelong friends with people from their travels, and were active members of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in San Jose. Elly was also an accomplished artist, pianist, and seamstress, studying art in college and learning to paint from her mother. Her paintings, as well as her mother’s, are still cherished by her family. She made dresses for her niece, helped sow Greek dance costumes for her grandchildren, and enjoyed knitting gifts for loved ones.

Elly and Tony had three children: after marriage she had her first son, George, who passed away at one year old, her second son James born in 1957, and third son Steve in 1959. She survived cancer twice, and never let anything set her back in life. Together, Elly and her family eventually settled in Los Gatos where they helped to raise their grandchildren, and then great grandchildren. We remember Elly’s and Tony’s love as one for fairy tales — dancing and singing in the kitchen well into their old age, laughing together, and never failing to share their joy with their family.

For Elly, family was the most important part of life. She loved attending school graduations, wedding celebrations, baptisms, and religious holidays with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed sharing her Greek culture, feeding her family Greek food, and teaching her grandchildren and great grandchildren about Greek Orthodox religious celebrations. She always brought the family together for holidays, and made sure everyone felt loved and included. She was our candle in the window — no matter where we went, no matter what happened, we knew she was always there to love and support us.

Elly was preceded in death by her husband Anthony “Tony” Condos, her son George Michael Condos, her brother Arthur Psaltis, and her sister Lady Betty Duncan.

Elly is survived by her two sons Steven (Guillermina) Condos and James Condos; three grandchildren Elly (Evan) Brown, Danae (Conor) Tucker, and Anthony Condos; and six great grandchildren Artemis, Diana, Aislin, Jack, Quinlan, and Zoe. She is also survived by her brother in law Sir James Duncan, younger sister Eugenia Nobis; and her nieces, nephews, and grand nephews.

May her memory be eternal.
